Overview

The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the accounting team: responsible for general ledger accountability, financial reporting, and analysis. This role also supports the Accounts Payable department as a backup.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and prepare total company corporate credit charges for posting to the general ledger.
  • Inquire on missing information and follow up on delinquent expense reports
  • Total ownership of month-end close for one of our business units
  • Produce monthly financial statements and reporting
  • Reconcile and review for accuracy revenue, COS, and operating expenses
  • Post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
  • Analyze key financial metrics
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • General ledger maintenance and account reconciliations on company-wide balance sheet categories; Accounts Receivable, Payroll Taxes, etc
  • Collaborate with our finance team to provide information necessary for reporting and additional analysis
  • Participate in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying or gathering information required to perform job functions
  • Cross-train with the Accounts Payable department in order to understand the flow of information through the GL and support this accounting function as a backup
  • Offer support with financial projects related year-end, audits, etc.
  • Complete ad hoc projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required with 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, follow up, and follow through on tasks with minimal direction
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Sense of urgency with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines
  • Eagerness to take initiative and possess ambitions for career advancement
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains a plus
